Hi, welcome to "A Frugal and Fabulous Journey", I'm PJ.
After reading and following a few PF blogs for a few months, I've decided to start my own blog. I'm an average 20-something tied to a desk-bound office job (it's boring but it feeds me), who is getting tired of the "spendy" life I've had. When I say "spendy", I don't mean spending on designer bags and such, but for the past 3 years, every month my moolah just disappeared here and there. One day, I sat down and calculated my finances and discovered my savings fell seriously short of the expected amount I set for myself. I told myself: NO MORE OF THIS. This endless cycle of buying and chasing the newest and latest, the next "it" things are leading to nowhere but a huge dip in bank account. This is how this blog is born.
This blog will chronicle my journey to less consumerism, less materialism, frugal way of living and more savings. Deep down, I think I have the 'frugal roots', thanks to my parents. I'm not in any debt thankfully, but I ain't satisfied with the stagnant growth in my bank figures either. While Financial Independence (FI) sounds rather distant now, it remains an ultimate goal that I aim to achieve. The point of having this blog is not to have a second chance to blogger stardom (I'm not new to blogging, but that's not the point), via this blog I hope to 1) hold myself accountable to my finances; 2) have an expressive outlet to talk about frugal living that I can't possibly talk with people around me; 3) exchange ideas with fellow frugal folks (you guys give me so much inspiration!).
A word about the profile picture: image taken from Google images. The Moai statue has great symbolism: it's my dream to visit the Moai statues in Chile, the fact that the statue on the far right is still standing upright and the ones behind it are tilted / tumbling blocks, is a perpetual reminder to myself that I shall not "go with the flow" (aka consumerism and materialism) when it comes to life.
This is not a "get rich quick" blog but rather a blog that I ramble about everyday life in a city, my attempt to live a frugal yet fabulous life, my PF goals, inspirations, the occasional thrifty finds and ideas, and the like. Please say hi if you drop by, I'd love to get to know you! :)
